Coop & Clover ("we", "us" or "our") operates coopandclover.net, a website with practical gear guides for backyard chicken keepers and small homesteads. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit the site, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
We collect information in three ways:
- Information you give us. If you email us directly, we receive whatever you include in that message, including your email address. Our free guide is a plain download and does not ask for your email address.
- Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting and analytics providers may record standard technical data when you visit — such as your IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, and the pages you view.
- Information from cookies and similar technologies. Small files stored in your browser that help the site function and help us understand which guides are useful. See "Cookies & analytics" below.
We do not collect payment information, and we do not process purchases on this site. All product purchases happen on the retailer's website (for example, Amazon).
How we use it
We use the limited information we collect to:
- Deliver the free guide you've downloaded and reply to any email you send us.
- Respond to your questions, feedback or support requests.
- Understand which pages and articles are useful so we can improve them.
- Keep the site secure, available and working correctly.
- Comply with our legal obligations and enforce our terms.
We will not use your email address to send you unrelated third-party marketing, and we will not sell or rent it to anyone.
Email & the free guide
Our free "New Chicken Owner Essentials" guide is a direct download — there is no sign-up form and we do not ask for your email address to get it. You only end up on our mailing list if you explicitly ask us to add you, and we are not currently running a newsletter.
If you email us directly, we hold that message and your email address only so we can reply. If we ever start sending emails, every message will include an unsubscribe link and you can opt out at any time.
Affiliate links
Some links on this site are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you click through and make a purchase — at no additional cost to you. When you click one of these links, the retailer (and its affiliate network) may set its own cookies or receive information such as the referring page, in order to attribute the referral.

How long we keep it
If you have emailed us, we keep your message and address only long enough to reply, plus a short period for our records. Aggregate analytics data is retained only as long as it is useful for understanding site performance. If you ask us to delete your information, we'll do so unless we are required to keep it for legal or accounting reasons.
Your choices & rights
You are in control of your information. You can:
- Ask us to access, correct or delete any information we hold for you.
- Block or delete cookies through your browser settings.
- Email us with any privacy question or request.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA — for example, the right to know what personal data we hold, to request a copy, or to request deletion. We honor these requests for everyone who contacts us, not just where a law requires it. We do not sell personal information as defined under the CCPA.
Children's privacy
This site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as our site or our tools change. When we do, we'll revise the effective date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we'll make that clear on the site. Continuing to use the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
